“Altair” comes from the Arabic (an-nisr ut-tair) meaning “the flying eagle”, which Muslim astronomers named the Alpha Aquilae star centuries ago.
In Altair, the statue is crowned with a red ruby. It symbolises the highest joy of life, as well as the content that it decorates.
